SALERO project finishes succesfully

30.03.2010

The, succesful, final review of SALERO took place at EUROFORUM, Luxemburg on March 26th & 27th, 2010. SALERO, Semantic AudiovisuaL Entertainment Reusable Objects, started in January 2006 and ended in December 2009.

SALERO was an European Project financed by the European Union under the Information Society Technologies Programme FP-027122 that aimed at making cross media-production for games, movies and broadcast faster, better and cheaper by combining computer graphics, language technology, semantic technologies as well as content based search and retrieval.

The main contributions of the MTG were:

- At the first part of the project, MTG was in charge of developing a sound annotation tool based in the essentia/GAIA technologies, an online  web page allowed the user to browse sound effects from a large database where the sounds were automatically annotated and the user was able to add more tags to the sounds or to search for similar sounds based on a content based search and retrieval technology or based on a semantic network (wordnet) and ontologies using the sound annotations.

- At the second part of the project, MTG developed the intelligent authoring tools which consisted in first,a set of VST plug-ins implementing existing MTG’s audio transformation technologies that were developed further during the project, and then the implementation of these technologies as web services for better and easier integration with other SALERO partners.
