| Abstract | This project sets a link between SMS and SaxEx in order to add expressivity to a non expressive melody applying SMS transformations to the original sound, decided by a Case Based Reasoning system. It deals with monophonic sounds from woodwind instruments like the saxophone, and several things in SMS have been added or improved to adapt the system to this approach like the improvement of the fundamental frequency detection and the region segmentation into musical regions (attack, steady state, release, silence). Also a GUI called ScoreMan has been developed to visualize several files (region info, SaxEx output, parameter scores) and synthesize the expressive sound. |
