Abstract | This paper introduces and evaluates a novel methodology for the estimation of bow pressing force in violin performance, aiming at a reduced intrusiveness while maintaining high accuracy. The technique is based on using a simplified physical model of the hair ribbon deflection, and feeding this model solely with position and orientation measurements of the bow and violin spatial coordinates. The physical model is both calibrated and evaluated using real force data acquired by means of a load cell. |
