| Abstract | The MPEG-7 standard provides description mechanisms and taxonomy management for multimedia documents. There are several approaches to design a multimedia database system using MPEG-7 descriptors. We discuss two of them relational databases and native XML databases. We have implemented an search and retrieval web system for MPEG-7 descriptions based on the latter. |
