More DJ techniques on the reactable

Title More DJ techniques on the reactable
Publication Type Conference Paper
Year of Publication 2008
Conference Name NIME08
Authors Hansen, K. , & Alonso M.
Abstract This paper describes a project started for implementing DJ scratching techniques on the reactable. By interacting with objects representing scratch patterns commonly performed on the turntable and the crossfader, the musician can play with DJ techniques and manipulate how they are executed in a performance. This is a novel approach to the digital DJ applications and hardware. Two expert musicians practised and performed on the reactable in order to both evaluate the playability and improve the design of the DJ techniques.
