Music Technology Group

Research

The research of the MTG is quite close to being at the core of the Sound and Music Computing interdisciplinariety. There is a combination of backgrounds, interests, skills, points of view (engineering, musicianship, software development, perception, interfacing, etc.) and at the same time it covers a number of the key Sound and Music Computing topics. Currently we are active in:

The MTG combines several strengths in basic disciplines, such as Signal Processing, Machine Learning and Human Computer Interaction, while being able to use many other disciplines/technologies that are of interest for solving quite a number of specific application-driven problems. For a description of the technologies that have resulted from our research go to the Technology Transfer section. You can also check all our research projects.

Most of the research is audio centered and that allows us to apply our technologies to non musical problems such as speech and general audio applications. We are very much open to new challenges and we are constantly exploring new trends for research, looking to emerging fields, opportunities, etc.
