Project funded by the EC that contributed to the Community effort in the development and diffusion of Libre Software by providing the first Libre Software platform devoted to professional and consumer audio applications and development. This objective was reached through the creation of two special distributions of the GNU/Linux system with related audio applications using two of the most common distribution paradigms existing today: Debian and Red Hat. The Debian distribution suported many special features: dynamic upgrading, multiple-installation handling, etc. Red Hat had a different packaging system which has the advantage of being very widely diffused.

After the project ended the Debian distribution was absorbed into the Debian Multimedia Project.
