From the research carried out by the Musical and Advanced Interaction research area we have developed a number of technologies that are being used in real applications, either commercial or academic.
Tangible Framework is an open source, cross-platform programming framework, design for the quick and effective development of tabletop tangible applications. It has been mainly created and maintained for supporting the teaching on the Taller de Sistemes Interactius I undergraduate course.
Musical Tabletop Coding Framework is an open source and cross-platform rapid prototyping tool for the development of musical tabletop applications. It is an environment built on top of Tangible Framework, which allows to design and implement musical tabletop programming directly in the Pd language. It has been mainly created and maintained for supporting the teaching on the CDSIM graduate course.
reacTIVision is an open source, cross-platform computer vision framework for the fast and robust tracking of fiducial markers attached onto physical objects, as well as for multi-touch finger tracking (Kaltenbrunner & Bencina, 2007). It was mainly designed as a toolkit for the rapid development of table-based tangible user interfaces (TUI) and multi-touch interactive surfaces. Originally used in the Reactable project, it is now widely used worldwide, by academic and commercial developers
TUIO is an open framework that defines a common protocol and an API for tangible multitouch surfaces (Kaltenbrunner et al., 2005). It was first used by reacTIVision and it has become the de facto standard in tangible and tabletop event communication.
